In the spirit of artistic devotion, our organization, inspired by the vision of our late founder, Reverend Nelson Mendis, has been dedicated to serving God through a vibrant tapestry of Aesthetic Music, Dance, and Drama. Recently, we expanded our repertoire by incorporating Drawing, a new initiative aimed at enriching our offerings to the divine.

Our journey, though marked by a brief downturn, has been uplifted by the unwavering grace of God, bringing us to a place of renewed vitality and functionality.

In recent times, our endeavours have taken us to various noteworthy events, showcasing our commitment to artistic worship:

Church Carol Service Dramatic Aesthetic Singing:

We took centre stage at the Church Carol Service, presenting a special item that blended drama seamlessly with aesthetic singing, creating a unique and memorable worship experience.

Eastern Band at the 151st Anniversary Celebration:

We proudly participated in the 151st Anniversary Celebration procession as the Eastern Band, contributing to the jubilant atmosphere with our musical prowess.

Centenary Celebration at ‘The School for the Deaf and the Blind’:

Our Eastern Band played a significant role in the Centenary Celebration of ‘The School for the Deaf and the Blind’ in Ratmalana, Sri Lanka, adding a touch of grace to this momentous occasion.

United Palm Sunday Celebration:

As the Representative Eastern Band of the Holy Emmanuel Sunday School, we joined the United Palm Sunday Celebration at the Prince of Wales College Grounds, spreading the message of faith through our artistry.

Special Easter Program with the National Christian Foundation:

Our vocal talents were on display at a Special Easter Program organized by the National Christian Foundation, hosted by the National Rupawahini Cooperation.

Confirmation Service at St. John’s Church, Panadura:

The Hewisi Band, part of our ensemble, played a pivotal role in welcoming the Rt. Revd. Bishop of Colombo during the Confirmation Service at St. John’s Church, Panadura.

National Day Celebration Service:

Our Eastern Band added a festive touch to the National Day Celebration Service of our church, enhancing the worship experience for all in attendance.

In addition to these remarkable events, we recently celebrated a significant milestone—our Founders’ Day and 30th Anniversary. The occasion was marked by a special thanksgiving service, completely orchestrated and performed by our talented members. This memorable event, held in lieu of the usual 7:30 am Holy Communion Service, was followed by a heartwarming fellowship tea party at the Main Hall of the SunShine Elders’ Home.

As we reflect on our journey, we are grateful for the support of our members and the divine guidance that has brought us through challenges and triumphs alike. Our commitment to serving God through the arts remains steadfast, and we look forward to continuing our mission with renewed enthusiasm and creativity.
